From June 4 to 7, 2024, Sunny Smartlead and TriEye held a four-day joint technical exchange in China on the theme of “Key Applications of Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR) Sensing in Automotive Visual Sensing Systems”. The Sunny Smartlead & TriEye team and the automobile enterprise R&D team conducted a unique discussion on product technology in the form of real vehicle DEMO road test and brainstorming.

During the roadshow, Sunny and Trieye teams introduced the basic principles of gated cameras and the physical characteristics of SWIR bands to customers and started an in-depth discussion on application scenarios. TriEye's product manager Oded explained the complete product architecture in detail, and discussed with the customer the advantages that this SWIR sensor has over other sensors and the pain points that it can solve.

Through the in-depth analysis and real-vehicle demo demonstration, the advantages of the product's all-weather working conditions and sensing ability are shown in day, night, rainy and foggy weather. Interviewed customers recognized the prospect of TriEye’s technology in L2+and future L3 intelligent driving, and discussed cooperation opportunities on the spot.

Meanwhile, with the addition of spectral enhancement detection and ranging technology, the sensing system adds Z-axis depth information to 2D imaging, which can provide machine vision with three-dimensional information about the environment.

Short-wave infrared image combined with high-resolution depth information can provide the different spatial perception capabilities complementary to visible light cameras.

Compared to the previous near-infrared spectrum, SWIR sensing systems not only provide a light source that is safe for the human eye, but also has highly robustness to sunlight and other ambient noise sources. As a result, SWIR-based sensing systems offer higher detection accuracy and longer detection ranges than previous near-infrared sensing systems.

The roadshow built a bridge between the three parties, opened a new window of visual perception, and talks about the blueprint for the future. Not only were we able to witness the outstanding performance and development layout of new products and technologies, but the collision of ideas during the exchange also sparked new inspiration. Sunny Smartlead will continue to maintain an open attitude and work closely with TriEye and more customers to explore new breakthroughs in intelligent driving technology and inject sustainable momentum into the development of the industry.
